Fully Alive: A Journey That Will Change Your Life is an inspirational guide written by Christian comedian and speaker Ken Davis. It is also a memoir of sorts, chronically Ken’s personal journey as he clawed his way out of a deep depression and lost a significant amount of weight.
I enjoyed reading Fully Alive. However, I’m not sure it lived up to all its lofty title promises. The book was broken up into easy-to-swallow chunks, which I enjoyed. Each section tackles an area which Ken Davis thinks are key to living a full, rich, Christian life, such as health and well being, friendship, and spirital life and growth. Within each section Ken details his own experiences and includes one or more humorous anecdotes.
Overall, the book is inspiring but a little boring. It took me almost two months to read through it because I kept getting bored. I also feel that the book focused mostly on weight loss and Ken’s incredible weight loss. I, personally, would’ve liked a bit more spiritual ‘oomph’ and less focus on weight loss and activity.
